There are so many spots to chose from when it comes to South African safari. You first decision to make is private game reserve or national park.
Take a look at some of our suggestions for National Parks in South Africa:
Layers - early morning and night game drives can get chilly so make sure you take layers, and even a wooly hat.
Light, long sleeved/long legged clothes - theres a reason people wear "safari" colours, but this doesn't mean you need to buy a whole new wardrobe. The main thing is NO BRIGHT COLOURS - these attract flies, stick to the neutrals.
Portable charger - you will constantly be taking photos so having a way to charge up your phone is essential.
Binoculars
Camera
If doing a self driving safari:
USB cable
Download google maps/spotify playlists - sometimes you just want some tunes as you're driving along and signal can be patchy around national parks.
Map of the national park that you are going to - don't worry you can buy one of those when you get to the national park (just make sure you do).
