Such an incredible adventure and an incredibly beautiful country. It does make a perfect road trip location, and if road tripping why not drive around you home on wheels.
There are some incredibly stunning scenery where ever you look, and there is so much to the country outside Ljubljana (Slovenia's capital) and Lake Bled. To be honest Lake Bled was the low light of the trip.
Here's some tips for road tripping and more specifically campervanning around Slovenia!

Drive on the right side of the road.
You can cross into other EU countries without need for paying extra fees.
When hiring any vehicle check if it comes with tolls included. There are many toll roads in Slovenia and they really aren't obvious. It's all done on APR cameras and most cars are signed up to a subscription services so they pay an annual fee. Check this is included in your vehicle hire.

Wild camping isn’t allowed - we heard from the locals that his is not tolerated at all in the summer months and you might find yourself with a hefty fine (up to €500), but in shoulder months this is less monitored but you still might end up being fined - so in my opinion just wasn’t worth it.
Campsites book up in the summer months but if going in shoulder season you can just turn up - we had no problem just rocking up to campsites when we went at the start of October.
Some campsites shut mid to the end of October and re-open again in April. If traveling in April or October or in off season you need to do your research into campsites to check where is open for your dates.
It started getting cold at night when we went in October so consider this when going in shoulder season and consider a heater - we had a portable electric heater included in our van rental and it was a life saver especially on the last night where we needed it on most of the night.
We’ve included what we paid for the campsites in our campsites in Slovenia page, but in general each campsite had a cost per pitch plus a cost per person, with extra if you wanted electric hook up and then tourist tax was added on too. It adds up and for 2 people with electric hook up we paid between €30-50 per night.
Get a camping card!! These are discount cards that give you between 5-15% off at most campsites. We got the Avtokampi card which was free to sign up for and you get a pdf immediately that you can download and show at campsites.
We used Balkan campers and they were amazing - they specialize in retro campers which was just a fun way to explore. They are also available across the Balkans and you can get them in Croatia and other incredible countries. They come with a generous milage per day and are very helpful when picking up and if you have any problems during your trip.
