This is an enchanting gorge filled with icy blue water roaring through. It's a one way walkway running along side and over this beautiful river. 

There are a few wet sections where you would be hit by the mist of the waterfalls or dripped on from water falling from the overhanging rocks. You will be given a helmet to do the trail with though but definitely wear something you don’t mind getting wet. 

When you finish the Vintgar trail make sure you head down the steps to get the best view of the impressive waterfall at the end of the trail, Slap Sum. There's a cafe/shop at this point just before you exit the official trail. It makes for a stunning location to grab a drink before making your way out of the valley. 

The path that goes through a valley, starts at the visitors centre and ends at a cafe/shop, this is one way! You can't go back to the visitors centre, you have to walk along a trail. From the end of the gorge it’s a steep 10 minute walk to another cafe (Natour Bar) where you can stop for a drink and beer tasting if you wish. Would highly recommend the beer tasting and 10 EURO for 4 tastings, why not.

You can get a paid for shuttle from Bar Natour back to the visitors centre, the P1 car park or Lake Bled. You can walk back to the visitors centre through a forest trail which takes about 30 minutes. P3 (car park) is approximately a 10 minute walk from this point. 

The forest trail back to the visitors centre starts behind Natour Bar. This is actually a lovely trail and some signs along the way explaining local myths and legends. It took us about 30 minutes to do this section of the walk. 

Driving

There are a couple of car parks. On the website it says that P1 and P3 are free to park at and there are shuttles (UPDATE: the website now states parking in both are 5EURO per car). This was pretty misleading. We parked in P3 and were charged 5EURO and there didn't seem to be a shuttle, but to be honest we really didn’t need one for P3. There was a shuttle that you could pay for from P3 that would take you to the entrance but the walk was only 40 minutes. The website states that a shuttles comes every hour on the hour to take you to the gorge visitors centre. 

There is a paid for shuttle which a lot of people seemed to jump on and not realise they had to pay. We bumped into a lot of people that had parked in P1 and had to a free shuttle up to the entrance of the gorge but were very lost with how to get back to the car park and didn't seem to be able to find the free shuttle. 

If driving my recommendation would be to park in P3, do the 40 minute walk to the visitors centre, going back down the road that you came into the car park on and turn left off the road at the sign. This takes you up a track to the Natour bar which takes about 5-10 minutes. Follow the forrest trail to the entrance which starts behind Natour Bar (you basically walk through their beer garden). Take the 30 minute trail to the entrance, explore the magical gorge and then follow the trail back to Natour Bar before heading back to P3. 

Shuttles 

There are shuttles from Lake Bled to Vintgar. The website does say that they run and e-shuttle from the central bus station in Bled once an hour, this appears to go to and from the visitors centre at the start of the gorge.  You can pay for shuttles and this will depend on what you book as to where they drop you off and pick you up. It is very easy to get a shuttle that you pay for back from the gorge. 

Train 

You can get the train to Podhom it’s then a 20 minute walk to the visitor centre.
