Where to eat on the Wine Tram?
Now this is a big descision and if you want to sit down for a proper lunch might need some planning unfortunately, as most need advanced bookings. If you want to just take the day as it comes then don't worry as most places do platters so this is a great options if you want to go with the flow.
If doing a sit down lunch make sure you're at the winery for make sure you give yourself at least 1.5hrs if not 2 hours at the winery.

Green/Orange Lines:
Plasir - Burgers and pizzas available at the tasting area so good option for a shorter stop.
Vrede en Lust - separate bistro/bakery does breakfast, sandwiches and full main courses.
Green only:
Allee Bleue - restaurant that serves breakfast & lunch, you can also prebook a picnic to enjoy on their lawn.
Le Pommier - separate restaurant on site.
Zorgvliet - 1692 restaurant is at the wine tasting area, there are other options but they are a bit of a walk from the tasting area.
Orange only:
Babylonstoren - have a Babel (pre booking needed) & the greenhouse (walk in only, casual dining) a short walk from the tasting room.
Red/Blue/Pink Lines:
Rickety Bridge - restaurant at the tasting area.
Grande Provence - 2 restaurants; The Bistro (al la cart menu) & The Oak (2/3 course set menus) - both need booking. They also do picnics that need prebooking.
Franschhoek Cellar - restaurant at the tasting area, great selection including wood fire pizzas.
Red only:
Haute Cabriere - restaurant separate from tasting area, pre booking advised.
Mount Rochelle - restaurant, again booking is advised.
Blue only:
Klein Goederust - spitbraai on the weekends only.
Maison - Chef's warehouse restaurant, booking advised. Great choice if lunching on the blue line.
Holden Manz - burgers available at the tasting area, also do picnics which you need to prebook.
Pink only:
Leopards leap - buffet style or Al La Carte dining, large restaurant area. Felt more buffet style than cute winery.

Green/Orange Lines:
Plasir - does platters as well as burgers and pizzas. They also have an indoor market which sells pastries etc so we like to grab a snack for the road when we leave.
Boschendal - Wine and food (eg cheese) pairings and you can also order some small plates at the tasting area.
Vrede en Lust - Lindt chocolate & wine pairings (prebooking though). Tasting room offers platters and cakes.
Green only:
Allee Bleue - does platters
Camberley - offers snacks such as crisps
Bartinney - would highly recommend their cheese platter.
Le Pommier - pizza/South African food and wine pairings. Also offer platters.
Orange only:
Babylonstoren - highly recommend the platters in the tasting room. Also have a pick your own fruit garden.
Bacco - Italian small plates
Red/Blue/Pink Lines:
Rickety Bridge - 1 platter option (biltong & cheese) available.
Grande Provence - platters & oysters available at the tasting area.
Franschhoek Cellar - casual pub type bar and resturant so can easily grab something off their menu or go for a quirky wine pairing.
Red only:
Haute Cabriere - they have a bakery for a snack for the road, could highly recommend the macaroon & bubbly tasting.
Mount Rochelle - platters available at the tasting
Eikenhof - highly recommend the platters, our waiter even recommended great combinations. Probably the best platter we had on the tram.
Lynx - brownie and oyster wine pairings available.
Blue only:
Paserene - platters and small plates
Maison - platter are okay.
Holden Manz - small plates, burgers, oysters and platter.
Pink only:
Chamonix - good platters
Pigcasso - coffee shop and snacks available
Atlas Swift - good platters.

Green line - grab a breakfast pastry pre tram, platter at Bartinney, snacks from Plasir indoor market and then head into Franschhoek town for dinner.
Orangeline - platter at Babylonstoren as well as picking your own fruit in their garden, platter or snacks at plasir and then head into Franschhoek town for dinner.
Red line - macaroon & bubbly pairing at Haute Cabriere, platter at Eikenhof, brownie & wine pairing at Lynx, dinner at Franschhoek cellar.
Blue line - if timings work book Maison for lunch, or if on a weekend Klein Goederust, if still wanting some food platter at Grande Provance.
Pink line - just platter and snack your way around, getting platters at Chamonix & Atlas Swift and then end at Franschhoek cellar for some hot food.

So you know the wine tram is on your list of things to do when visiting South Africa but not sure where to stay. Well you have a few options, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch or stay in Cape Town and get a transfer or an Uber.
